Eight decades of engineering firsts
The company is founded
Thermo Electric is established in response to an urgent worldwide need for creative engineering in temperature measurement. A group led by Mr. Fred S. Walter — seasoned in the engineering, production, design and installation of temperature sensors — forms the nucleus of the new company.
International expansion & patented innovation
Thermo Electric opens a new factory in Ontario, Canada, beginning its global growth. In parallel, the TE engineering team introduces patented sensing solutions that become the standard for industry's most demanding temperature challenges.
A growing footprint across the USA
Thermo Electric expands its network of representative offices throughout the United States, adding close to 20 new offices to bring its temperature measurement expertise closer to customers nationwide.
A symbol of quality & reliability
Thermo Electric registers its brand-new logo — a mark that comes to represent innovation, quality and reliability in temperature measurement solutions the world over.
Continuing a tradition of innovation
Thermo Electric continued to innovate — notably with Ceramo® — carrying on the tradition set by Mr. Fred Walter: diversifying its applications through ongoing R&D and continuing the company's long history of patents in the field of temperature measurement.
Four factories, two continents
Thermo Electric operates two factories in Canada and two in Europe — in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands — leading innovation across its field.
A new factory in India
Following years of commercial presence in the region, Thermo Electric opens its Indian manufacturing facility, strengthening its global production capacity.
Precision for the semiconductor era
Thermo Electric grows its activity in the demanding semiconductor sector, developing state-of-the-art instrumented wafers that bring precise, repeatable temperature measurement to advanced chip manufacturing.
The birth of COTEMP Sensing
Thermo Electric and Correge merge their brands to form COTEMP Sensing — a new group uniting two long-established leaders in temperature measurement under one name.
Expanding through acquisition
Thermo Electric acquires LPG Industries to expand its reach. Founded in 1967, LPG Industries Inc. has built a strong reputation as a trusted supplier of temperature sensing solutions for turbine-based and other mission-critical industrial applications.
